Home Concert and Guitar Recital

A home concert is an invitation-only concert that is performed in your home and is attended by your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. It is a small and intimate event where your guests and the performer will be very close together. As the host, you do not profit from the event. The concert would typically be performed in your living room or another larger room or space. You will probably need to rearrange some furniture, like removing tables and shelves, and bringing in your available chairs for seating. You may also need to borrow a few chairs from your neighbors.

Ron Hackett plays an easy listening blend of jazz, standards, show tunes, classical, Spanish, and popular instrumental guitar music using a combination of finger-style and flat picking on steel and nylon strings with an air of sophistication and refinement. Ron's chord melody solos are reminiscent of the late Chet Atkins, but Ron's style is a unique blend all his own. He uses a small amp for sound reinforcement, but the concert will not be loud.

A typical home concert by guitarist Ron Hackett consists of two 45-50 minutes sets with a 20-minute intermission. During each set, Ron will introduce each selection and provide a brief history of the tune and other pertinent information. The first set is usually a jazz, standards, and show tune oriented set played on an electric arch-top guitar. The second set is usually played on an acoustic guitar and will include a more eclectic selection of genres.

Each set will have 10-12 selections based on available time. Lists of possible selections include:
